On 8.21.17 I saw one of the most breathtaking and surreal phenomenons this planet has to offer. After weeks of planning & stressing, the sun and moon aligned on a perfect summer day in Gallatin, TN. We picnicked and potlucked thanks to the efforts of Chuck and his friends, and viewed the sun for hours (safely of course) through glasses and telescopes of two generous space enthusiasts, Jared & Nolan. Locals and travelers (including a group who ventured from Switzerland!) shared food, photos, and stories as we waited for totality. We gazed in collective marvel at the crescent shadows, sunspots, and moonscapes. The light changed dramatically in quality, color, and intensity throughout the partial eclipse. Soon, we watched with bated breaths as the moon moved into position and a dark twilight fell on Cumberland River. We gasped, cheered, and cried as the most spectacular celestial ring formed in the sky. The air was thick with emotions. It felt like time had stopped for this singular moment where all were overwhelmed with the intense beauty of the eclipse. Then as quickly as it had come, the moon exited and sunlight flooded the park again. We packed our bags, loaded our cars, hugged and thanked each other and went home high on an unforgettable experience. The total eclipse only lasted 2 1/2 min but it will live on many times over in our stories and memories. | #eclipse2017 #timelapse by #cidhue w/ support from @stanhonda & #aaadotorg
